Forget
growing old gracefully -cosmetic surgery to make you look younger is a
great idea. Before I had surgery my brain was telling me that I was
25, but my body looked so much older. Middle-aged
people today have a much younger outlook than they used to, so why
shouldn't they have a body to match? I've had a 60-year-old client who
wanted a facelift so that she could go on a world cruise to find herself a
new husband and women as old as 80 come to me for advice on looking
younger!
Some people say that your wrinkles are part of your
character and history, but I disagree. I don't want people to see wh
at a hard life I've had! I don't want to be reminded every time I see crow's feet around
my eyes, that I spent the afternoon gardening and screwing my eyes up in
the sun.
Our society is very shallow. Everyone judges you on your
appearance and age and older people are discriminated against based on
their looks.
People treat me differently now. As soon as I'd had my facelift and hair extensions, I was quickly moved downstairs at work to meet all the new clients. Men my son's age used to ignore me if I was struggling with my shopping, whereas now that I'm blonde and I look
younger, they're rushing to help.
If I wanted a job now, I would
definitely exploit my new-found youth and lie about my age to get what I
wanted.
Cosmetic surgery can make you feel much happier and so much
more confident about yourself - as long as you don't expect miracles.
I was really unhappy for several years before I underwent surgery. I
was spending a fortune on non-surgical facelifts and a guest at my
sisters wedding even asked me if I was the bride's mother! One day I
looked in the mirror and thought, that face has to go'. Now I'm hooked -
the next job is liposuction because my bum is spreading.
