Liposuction/
liposculpture
|
Liposculpture can be
carried out if there is
only a little excess fat.
Incisions are
generally made in the
pubic area or through the
belly button so any scars
are concealed.

Abdominoplasty/
abdominal wall
correction
|
If you have excess fat and
also excess abdominal skin,
abdominoplasty might be the
right solution. Any
stretched abdominal muscles
can be tightened again during
this procedure. A
horizontal incision is made in
the lower abdomen. The
incision generally follows the
bikini-line, so that scarring
is hidden with underwear or
swim wear. There will
also be a scar around the
umbilicus (navel) because this
usually needs to be
repositioned.
|
|
An abdominal wall correction
is generally performed under a
general anaesthetic.
Sometimes it is
necessary to have drain tubes
inserted, to help avoid the
accumulation of blood or wound
fluid. Stitches are
generally removed from 7 to 10
days Sometimes you will
be given a support garment to
wear for up to three
weeks.

|
Mini-abdominoplasty /
Mini-abdominal
correction
|
If the excess abdominal
skin is restricted to the
lower abdomen, a so called
mini-abdominal correction
can be carried out. This
is a smaller operation
which will only leave a
scar under the bikini-line
and not around the
umbilicus (navel). This
procedure can be combined
with liposuction of the
abdomen to enhance the
result.
